Emotional Attunement 5e Subclasses
Four Subclasses. One Very Emotional Idea.
Emotional Attunement gives your 5e table four character options built on the same premise: feelings are a resource, and everybody spends them differently.
Buy on DriveThruRPG (opens in new tab)Most subclasses hand you a new way to deal damage. These hand you a new way to feel, then make you decide what to do about it.
We built these four together on purpose. The Bard harvests emotion from other people. The Cleric keeps it in balance. The Fighter refuses to have any. The Monk has all of them, in random order, at high speed. Put all four in one party and you’ve got a genuinely funny table dynamic. Split them across four campaigns and each one still stands entirely on its own.
Meet the Four
College of Emotional Alchemy (Bard)
Reach into a creature within 30 feet and pull out joy, sorrow, anger, or fear. If they fail the save, they never notice, and you walk away with essence in your pocket. Later, spend it to supercharge a spell or a Bardic Inspiration die. Every conversation becomes a supply run.
Equilibrium Domain (Cleric)
Devoted to the space between passion and detachment. Your healing gives allies a burst of speed, your damage drags enemies down, and Equilibrium Shift lets you use Channel Divinity to tilt the emotional balance of a whole encounter. You also read people better than anyone else at the table, with doubled proficiency on Insight.
Stoic Warrior (Fighter)
Charm and fear stop working on you at 3rd level. Enter Stoic Focus, bank Resolve Points every turn, then spend them on devastating strikes, an immovable stance, or simply postponing the damage you just took. Later, your calm spreads to nearby allies. The tank who wins by having no reaction whatsoever.
Way of the Mercurial Soul (Monk)
Spend a ki point, roll a d10, and become something new for a minute. Ferocity, Eloquence, Serenity, Hope, Melancholy, or Chaos, which makes you roll twice more. Pay extra ki to pick your aspect, or save the points and find out what happens. High variance, high fun.
